Superyacht Charters in Puerto Vallarta: 80–122 ft Yachts for a VIP Day on Banderas Bay

Puerto Vallarta is not Monaco, and that is exactly why a superyacht day here is such good value. Banderas Bay has a small, owner-run fleet of 80 to 122 ft yachts that would cost several times as much in the Mediterranean, berthed a few minutes from the airport and within an hour of hidden coves, whale water and the Marietas Islands. This guide covers that top tier of Puerto Vallarta Yacht Charters & Rentals: which superyachts are actually available, what a VIP day aboard one costs and includes, how to plan it so it feels effortless, and when a big yacht is the right call versus a smaller one. Every boat, capacity and rate below was taken from the owners’ own listings on October 13, 2026.

What Counts as a Superyacht on Banderas Bay

Industry purists reserve the word for 24 meters (about 79 ft) and up, and that line works well here too. Below 80 ft, the bay is full of excellent flybridge yachts — Azimut 62s and 70s, Sunseekers, Sea Ray 60s. Above it, the experience changes: a larger professional crew that often includes a stewardess and a chef, several staterooms, a full-beam salon, a sundeck big enough for a party and, on most of them, a tender and water toys. You stop “going on a boat trip” and start spending the day in a floating residence that happens to move.

On October 13, 2026, ten yachts of 80 ft and over were listed for private yacht charter in Puerto Vallarta — a short enough list that the good dates go early in high season.

Notice the two pricing styles: some owners quote a four-hour block, others a full day. Convert before you compare — a four-hour rate that looks lower can end up costing more than a day rate once you add the hours you need to reach Yelapa or the Marietas. The live list of superyacht charters in Puerto Vallarta shows which unit each owner uses.

The flagships: 105 to 122 ft

The 122 ft Hatteras is the largest yacht on the bay and the most expensive published day rate, USD 12,670, for a deliberately small group of 12. That ratio — a boat this size for a dozen people — is what true superyacht service means: space everywhere, a crew that outnumbers your needs, and nobody queuing for anything. The 105 ft Azimut takes 20 guests from USD 8,500 a day and is the sleekest silhouette in Marina Vallarta. The Strega 120 is the opposite philosophy: a 120 ft yacht certified for 50, quoted at USD 8,000 for four hours, which makes it the rare superyacht built for a real party or a corporate event.

The 85 ft Azimuts

Four 85 ft Azimuts work the bay, and they are not interchangeable. The Punta Mita-based Azimut 85 Fly (USD 7,810 a day, ten guests) is the one to book if you are staying inside the Punta Mita peninsula and want the yacht to come to you — see the Punta Mita Azimut 85 listing. In Marina Vallarta, “Live the Dream” is the best-value way into an 85 ft yacht at USD 4,900 for the day for 15, while “Ultimate Luxury” (USD 5,300 for four hours) is certified for 30 and the Fly (USD 6,350 for four hours) for ten. Same length, three very different days.

The 80–90 ft yachts of La Cruz and Marina Vallarta

Two of the larger yachts are based in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, the natural launch point for the Marietas: the Azimut 80 (30 guests, USD 7,060 a day) and the Montefino 84 (25 guests, USD 7,500 a day), whose wood-paneled salon is one of the warmest interiors in the fleet. Back in Marina Vallarta, the Cheoy Lee 90 is the classic motor yacht of the group — certified for 45 and listed at USD 3,600 for four hours, the most accessible way to put a large group on a 90 ft yacht.

What a VIP Day Aboard Actually Looks Like

On a smaller boat, the day is built around a route. On a superyacht, it is built around you. A typical high-season day runs like this:

  • Late morning boarding. The crew meets you at the dock, takes bags, and there is usually a welcome drink before lines are cast off.
  • A slow cruise south. Past Los Arcos and along the cliffs of the south shore, with the sundeck and the flybridge the best seats in the house.
  • Anchor in a cove. Las Ánimas, Majahuitas or off Yelapa — water toys and the tender go in, guests swim, paddle or ride ashore for a walk to the waterfall.
  • Lunch on board. On the bigger yachts the galley and aft-deck dining table make a long, served lunch the centerpiece of the day.
  • Sunset run home. The bay turns gold behind the Sierra Madre and the city lights come on as you return to the marina.

From La Cruz or Punta Mita, swap the south shore for the Marietas Islands and the empty beaches of the north side. Either way, a full day is what these boats are built for; four hours on a superyacht feels rushed.

Who Books a Superyacht in Puerto Vallarta

Milestone celebrations

Anniversaries, 50th birthdays, a proposal followed by dinner on deck. Here the small-group yachts shine: the Hatteras 122 for 12, the Azimut 85 Fly for ten. This is the corner of luxury yacht rentals in Puerto Vallarta where a small group gets the most space per person.

Villa and resort groups

Families sharing a villa in Conchas Chinas or a residence in Punta Mita who want one unforgettable day together. A 15 to 25-guest yacht such as the Azimut 105, the 85 ft “Live the Dream” or the Montefino 84 fits three generations comfortably.

Corporate hospitality and events

Incentive trips, client entertainment, product launches. The high-capacity boats — Strega 120 (50), Cheoy Lee 90 (45), Azimut 80 and the 30-guest Azimut 85 — are the only true superyachts that can host a large event without moving to a party catamaran. Compare their capacities side by side on Puerto Vallarta yacht charters.

Wedding weekends

A welcome cruise or a day-after recovery sail. Many couples book one large yacht for the whole wedding party rather than splitting guests across smaller boats.

The Real Cost of a Superyacht Day

Superyacht pricing looks intimidating until you divide it. A few examples using published rates and full certified capacity:

  • Cheoy Lee 90 — USD 3,600 for four hours / 45 guests ≈ USD 80 each.
  • Strega 120 — USD 8,000 for four hours / 50 guests ≈ USD 160 each.
  • Azimut 80 — USD 7,060 a day / 30 guests ≈ USD 235 each.
  • Azimut 85 “Live the Dream” — USD 4,900 a day / 15 guests ≈ USD 327 each.
  • Hatteras 122 — USD 12,670 a day / 12 guests ≈ USD 1,056 each.

The point is not that one is cheap and another expensive; it is that the yacht you choose depends on how many people you bring and how much space you want each of them to have. A full Cheoy Lee is a party; a Hatteras 122 with ten guests is privacy. To see the rate each owner publishes today, open the list of yacht rentals in Puerto Vallarta.

What is usually included — and what to ask

The captain and crew are always part of the rate. Beyond that, superyacht listings vary: some include fuel for a standard route, soft drinks, ice and snorkel gear; food, an open bar, a private chef, extended routes and park fees for the Marietas are often quoted separately. Ask the owner for a written total that names the route, the hours, the menu and the cancellation terms if the port captain closes the harbor for weather. A gratuity for the crew is customary and not built into the price.

Planning Tips That Make the Day Effortless

Book early for high season

With only around ten yachts of this size on the bay, Christmas, New Year, Easter and the January–April whale season fill first. Lock the date as soon as your group is confirmed, and check the calendar for VIP yacht days in Puerto Vallarta before you book flights around it.

Pick the marina that matches your base

Most of the fleet is in Marina Vallarta, two yachts are in La Cruz and one Azimut is in Punta Mita. Leaving from the right dock can save an hour of transit each way; our guide to where to start a yacht charter on Banderas Bay explains the trade-offs.

Match boat to headcount, not ego

A yacht certified for 12 is the wrong choice for 30 guests, and a 50-guest yacht feels empty with eight. If you are unsure whether you need this tier at all, read our comparison of catamarans, motor yachts and sailboats — for some groups a large catamaran delivers the same day for less.

Book with the person who knows the boat

An owner-direct yacht rental lets you ask the owner the questions that matter at this price — crew size, chef options, which toys are aboard, how flexible the route is — and agree the plan without a broker in between. It is the same principle as a boat rental by owner on a 30 ft boat, scaled up to a crewed superyacht.

Superyacht or Large Luxury Yacht?

If your group is 15 to 30 and the budget is firm, the 70 ft Azimuts (USD 5,294 and USD 5,885 a day) and the 75 ft Hatteras for up to 50 (USD 2,490 a day) deliver much of the superyacht feeling for less. The difference above 80 ft is crew depth, interior volume and the sense that the yacht is entirely yours. You can see both tiers on the luxury yachts in Puerto Vallarta page, alongside the full Puerto Vallarta yacht fleet.
